Welcome to Columbia, Missouri, IEP students! Enjoy getting to know Mizzou and the town. There are many choices of fun things to do this weekend. Go out and see what’s happening! Meet new people! Have a great time!

Friday, August 18

1. Odyssey Chamber Music: A Celestial Celebration

  • When:  7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
  • Where:  First Baptist Church, 1112 E Broadway
  • Cost:  Free
  • Music inspired by the Solar Eclipse! The concert will be followed by a Sun-inspired reception.

2. Paint the M

  • When:  7:00 p.m.
  • Where: Faurot Field
  • Cost:  Free
  • A campus tradition since 1927, new students whitewash the Rock M at Faurot Field. Be sure to wear closed-toe shoes to this event.

Saturday, August 19

1. Boone County Farmers Market

  • When: 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
  • Where: Columbia Mall, Bernadette Drive
  • Cost: Free
  • Buy fresh fruit, vegetables, dairy, fish and meat products at these outside, local markets.

2. Columbia Farmers Market

  • When: 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
  • Where: 1701 Ash St.

3. Saturday Morning Science: Doing Science in the Dark

  • When:  10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
  • Where:  Bond Life Sciences  Center, Mizzou

4. Laws Observatory Open Hours

  • When: Saturday and Sunday, 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
