You may apply for conditional admission to an undergraduate program at MU if your TOEFL score is below 61.
To apply for conditional admission, please complete the University of Missouri International Student Application for Admission. If you meet MU’s admission requirements except for the English language requirement, the International Admissions Office will give you a letter of conditional admission AND you will be offered automatic admission to the Intensive English Program (IEP). This conditional admission letter will state that you may satisfy the English requirement by obtaining the required TOEFL score or by obtaining a recommendation from the IEP at the University of Missouri.
Admission of IEP Students to Undergraduate Study at the University of Missouri
MU admission decisions consider a student’s complete academic record, including performance in the University’s Intensive English Program (IEP). IEP students who 1) are conditionally admitted by the University of Missouri or 2) are applying for MU undergraduate admission must successfully complete their term and all required exams. IEP students may submit an outside English proficiency exam score (TOEFL iBT and IELTS) for MU admission purposes, but an outside English proficiency exam score must be turned in along with the IEP verification of language readiness for academic work.
If you are applying for admission to a graduate program (masters or doctorate), please contact the program directly to ask if the program admits students conditionally.
