Health care in the U.S. can be very expensive. Therefore, a student must have adequate medical insurance. IEP campus fees include a pre-paid health fee that allows students to use the services of the on-campus Student Health Center for common illnesses and routine health problems, often at no additional cost. MU has a special low-cost medical insurance policy for international students. All MU international students are required to purchase this policy at the time of registration. This insurance covers the cost of some services at the Student Health Center that are not covered by the Student Health Center fee. It also provides some coverage for medical expenses such as hospitalization, surgery or complex medical treatment resulting from a serious illness or accident. A student may also buy insurance for any family members (husband, wife, or a child) who are in the U.S. Students who have scholarships from their government may contact the International Center to request that their scholarship’s insurance policy be accepted in place of MU’s policy.
